Providence is calling a Cook (0.0 FTE, Rotating/Variable) to Providence Down Manor Hood River in Hood River , OR.
We are seeking a Cook who will assist in providing nutritional meals with attractive presentation to residents, guests and employees. Assist the Food Operations Manager in all endeavors.
Patient Population Served: Adult, Geriatric
Consequently, the employee must be competent in the interpretation of a patient's self-report or behavior, and this information must be interpreted with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional/psychosocial and chronological maturation process. The treatment of patients should be individualized and should reflect an understanding of the developmental needs and range of treatment needs for each patient.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Prepare meals following the menu and procedures furnished by the supervisor, utilizing specific kitchen equipment as required. Assure that leftovers are properly stored. Prepare special meals for birthday dinners, etc. as required from the procedures provided by the Operations Manager
Clean the kitchen and service areas after each meal to comply with Health Department and Down Manor standards. Accomplish monthly, semi-annual and annual sanitation tasks as required
Manage cash on hand, cash receipts and charges. Maintain integrity In the safekeeping of all properties and inventories
Promote participation in the use of food service facilities and communicates with residents on a personable basis. Maintain knowledge of each resident's physical condition and behavior, and notifies Administrator of any noticeable changes, either verbally or by memorandum
Assign, supervise and instruct Servers on daily tasks when the Food Operations Manager is not present. Familiarize self with all safety rules and observe them at all times. Report any potential hazards to a supervisor
Required qualifications for this position include:
Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement
Food Handler's Certification (may be obtained within 90 days in the position)
In compliance with company policy and state regulations, a Department of Human Services (DHS) background check is required for this position
1 year experience working in a commercial kitchen
Knowledge of principles of quantity food production and presentation
